Trends, challenges and opportunities in sustainable urban mobility

This session seeks to highlight the global challenges linked to climate change and the construction of more sustainable urban environments. We then ask ourselves: what’s at stake? what is the role of cities in this context? and specifically, is urban mobility part of the problem or part of the solution? According to figures from the World Bank, the transportation sector is one of the largest contributors to climate emissions today, both in Spain and Europe (around a third in both cases) and almost half of those emissions are produced in urban and metropolitan environments.
Through the experience and knowledge of the speakers, there will be an in-depth examination of the main challenges cities face in relation to the mobility of people and goods, as well as the emerging trends to address them. Likewise, this session will address those elements that should be taken into account to define and implement urban mobility systems. Finally, it will highlight the development opportunities that a more sustainable mobility generates for the territories and specially for citizens.
