Sustainable mobility not only represents better quality of life for citizens and the environment, but it is also a social and economic development opportunity. This session will focus on analysing and identifying these development opportunities within the framework of the transformation of mobility towards more sustainable models, whilst highlighting the industrial and technological capacity of the Iberian peninsula to take advantage of these opportunities. Furthermore, the Next Generation funds will be analysed as a driving force for these economic development opportunities, but also to boost Spain’s fulfilment of its industrial and technological autonomy objectives, which will enable it to establish itself as a leading economy in sustainable mobility and energy transition.
Finally, the case of Portugal and its commitment to the development of renewable energy, particularly green hydrogen, and the importance of fostering public-private associations to reach climate neutrality by 2050 will be presented.
