Bilbao will once more host SUM Bilbao 21

At the event held to celebrate the Anniversary of SUM Bilbao 19 on 23rd February 2021, the return of SUM Bilbao was announced. This second edition, which will once more be organised by Bilbao City Council and Petronor, will be held on 6th and 7th October 2021 in a hybrid format: in-person at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao and on-line, which will enable it to be followed in real time from anywhere in the world.

This new edition of SUM Bilbao will continue to address the most pressing issues related to mobility and energy at a global level. Over 60 experts and representatives from the world of sustainable mobility and energy will discuss three main topics: energy transition: governance and funding; mobility, digitalisation and innovation.

  1. Addressing Energy Transition, SUM Bilbao 21 will become the meeting point for exhibition and debate on the progress made and challenges raised by energy transition for the mobility sector.
  2. Governance and Funding will offer the opportunity to generate and add to the discussion on the current regulatory frameworks and the new governance and funding models required to bring about the major changes that are needed in the mobility sector and in the economy as a whole.
  3. The third topic, Mobility, Digitalisation and Innovation will address technological innovation in transport and mobility for the construction of sustainable and inclusive urban mobility systems.

In addition to the debate and knowledge exchange on to these three topics, SUM Bilbao 21 will go one step further and will consolidate itself as a space for public-private dialogue, focusing on creating synergies between the different stakeholders so as to move from dialogue to action. To do so, this edition of SUM Bilbao will offer project exhibition sessions and an in-person and on-line trade fair, unveiling the most innovative energy solutions that are being developed and which intend to take advantage of the potential of the Basque Country and Spain to position them at the forefront of the European energy transition strategy. Finally, a product will be launched that will revolutionise the future of sustainable mobility and energy in cities.

In short, SUM Bilbao 21 will become an international benchmark with debates, talks, exhibitions and product launches related to sustainable mobility and energy transition.
